Writing Fabulous Valentine Letters

We love to write.
We also love Valentine's Day!
In our class, we write every day of the week.
For the upcoming holiday that is as BIG as Christmas, I decided to make a NEW packet based upon students writing Friendly Valentine Letters to other students:

(click to see more of the packet)

As I stated in my new packet:
I believe when students write Friendly Letters to their peers, it develops a bond in friendships that are not otherwise known or expressed.  When kids take the time to notice and shine the light on their peers’ qualities, characteristics, and strengths, a powerful connection begins to build.  Building this friendship through a written Friendly Letter, is one of the most outstanding ways to build self-confidence, show a caring heart, and serve others with our expression of words.  Spreading the love and laughter with sweet, kind Valentine notes, is a sure way to share some friendship on a day that comes as big as ChristmasValentine’s Day!

Here's the whole packet plus the Valentine Mailboxes
at a glance:

To make Valentine Mailboxes, rinse & clean out one half-gallon milk or juice carton.

Cut the top off, and cover the sides in Valentine colored paper.

Students draw a self-portrait using the drawing template (above) from the unit, cut out, and paste on!

You can add foam hearts, the doilies, paper cut-outs, or any other added decorations if you choose!
These are sturdy, and the kids have ALWAYS LOVED making these, and are especially happy they get to take them home!!

Fostering positive friendships through the power of kind words!
