A quick tip to share with you:
Before using the computers, I always have kids wash their hands!
We are fighting germs in the classroom!
Honestly, colds, pink eye, the flu, all those wonderful germs will never go away.
What I CAN do, is help cut these germs in half by having kids wash with soap BEFORE using the imperative teaching tool within the classroom!
I read an article that by simple hand washing, people can cut sicknesses & influenzas in half.
In half.
So, a few years ago, I started this. Why not? What do we have to lose? Just germs.
I must say, it has helped tremendously!!
Side note: I also have kids wash their hands when they get back from the bathroom,
'cause I tell them my soap works better than the soap in the bathrooms.
Don't be surprised here, but not all kids wash their hands upon leaving the restroom.
I know, you're as shocked as I am, but that's the truth of it. And I'm an honest person, so I'm going to tell you how it is.
Including the fact that my soap works better than the soap in the bathrooms.
Another side note: I always have kids wash their hands if they go to the office, or library, or run an errand. Why?
All door handles have about 5 million- trillion germs on them at a school, that's why.
Just sayin'.
I know, my mother always says,
"Amy, my clean is your dirty."
I am not a germ phob, or a clean freak.
OK, well somewhat, to a degree.
BUT THINK ABOUT THIS PEOPLE, MY JOB DAILY involves me to be around kids who:
sneeze on your coffee
spit all over your face when they talk to you
cough on your coffee
sneeze while blowing snot out across the desk
pick their nose, sometimes constantly
scratch in areas I won't mention
put fingers all over in their mouths to dig snack out
wiggle loose teeth with all 5 fingers
wipe their noses with their hands
lick their fingers after snack as if they were the snack
rub eyes filled with pink eye, then ask to hold your hand
throw up all over the desk & books & carpet & pencils
have potty accidents
NEED I SAY MORE?
Yes honey, please wash your hands before you go on the computers.
A quick tip to keep us all a wee bit happier & healthier!
In half.

Buzz Around in Second Grade
Oh dear! I am so sorry so many were out sick! Keep the soap out!
DeleteI'm laughing out loud because you must be spying on our classroom! The one that gets me is when they "hide" their finger that is half way up their nose with their other hand because that way we can't see what they're doing. Ewww! Stay healthy!
